The purpose of the communications committee is to create greater awareness and understanding of the life and work of the Alliance, and a greater sense of communion among member churches, through publicity and publications, both printed and electronic. Moderator: Dr. Lilia Rafalimanana Secretary: Mr. John P. Asling
NewsWARC used to provide a Reformed Press Service, published monthly in four languages. From 1988, however, this was published only quarterly, and no longer qualified as a "press service" in the strict sense of that term. It has been replaced by Update and by news releases issued as required; and also, in a different sense, by ENI. For news releases from this and previous years, click here. Ecumenical News InternationalEcumenical News International (ENI) is a ecumenical news agency disseminating news that reflects both the life of the churches and of major ecumenical agencies and Christian world communions. The agency works from offices in the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva and employs a staff of six. It originates or commissions material in the English and French languages, for distribution daily via electronic mail and fortnightly in the form of a printed bulletin. ENI began in 1994 as a joint ecumenical project sponsored by the Alliance in partnership with the Conference of European Churches, the Lutheran World Federation and the World Council of Churches. Reformed WorldThis quarterly journal is the oldest Alliance publication, dating back, under a variety of names, to 1879. Historically, it has carried a mixture of longer articles and shorter news-items. The creation of Update freed Reformed World to treat the concerns of the Alliance and its member churches in a more reflective manner and to take a thematic approach. The new Reformed World began in 1991. It strives to be intellectually respectable but not academically detached. It allows reflection on the whole range of the work of the Alliance and aims to stimulate discussion among lay people, pastors, church leaders and academics. Some issues of Reformed World may be found in the Accra and other areas of our website. UpdateThis is the Alliance newsletter. It aims to present a "family portrait" of the Alliance. It allows the general secretary to speak directly and regularly to member churches, and tries to reflect the whole range of WARC activities. Publication began in 1991, with an English-language only issue. In 1992, it started to appear in English, French, German and Spanish. 1993 saw the beginning of a regular four-language quarterly. In 1999, the German edition became a quarterly supplement to the monthly magazine of the Reformed Alliance in Germany, while the Spanish edition was included in La Voz, the magazine of the Latin America area, AIPRAL. Today, the German edition forms part of the quarterly newsletter of the Reformed Alliance in Germany. For issues from this and previous years, click here. Studies from the World Alliance of Reformed ChurchesThis occasional series of books began in 1982 with the publication of Called to Witness to the Gospel Today. Since then, over 40 books have appeared. They come out of, and are intended to feed back into, the ongoing work of the Alliance.
